Looking for an experience this Autumn? How about an exciting day out on our Clipper 60 Ocean Race Yacht in the Solent!
Crew an Ocean Race Yacht, on this fast-moving, exciting day out. With a real hands-on focus participants have the opportunity to try all aspects of sailing one of these famous yachts, from taking the wheel and steering the 60ft yacht as she speeds past the other yachts in the Solent or trying winching as we put the yacht through its paces.
It's action packed and fun as all the crew work together to get the most out of one of these powerful and fast yachts. |
After meeting our crew in the morning participants are shown to their yacht where there is a short safety brief before slipping lines and motoring out into open water. Then it’s all hands on deck as we hoist the giant sails and set sail towards the Solent. There will be plenty of opportunity to put any existing sailing skills into practice and learn new ones as we put the yacht through its paces. Lunch is normally served under sail, racing style, before we cruise back to Southampton. |

Most frequently asked question about this sailing experience:
Will it be too windy or cold for this trip in the Winter?
One of the great thing about our winter series, is that is normally windy, which helps to ensure an exciting day out on the water. Clipper 60 Taeping can run in up to 40knots of wind (about 45mph) so unless there are severe gales your trip should run as planned. As the Solent is a relatively sheltered area of water there will not be a big rolling sea state if it is windy, rather a small exciting chop, which rarely causes seasickness, but does cause some fun spray over the decks.
The Autumn and Winter does tend to be cooler out on the water, but there can be some gloriously sunny and crisp days too. Use of our wet weather clothing is included in the price of the trip and if you wrap up warm with a woolly hat and a fleece, you should stay warm enough throughout the day. Tea and Coffee are also available throughout the trip if you do start to feel the chill.
