Blue Box Sailing, founded in 2003, is run by a dedicated team of water sports enthusiasts, who are all involved in not only the business side of running Blue Box Sailing, but also getting out on the water and running our sailing experiences. Our experiences
All the experiences sold on our website are run by Blue Box Sailing on our fleet of boats. Our boats and equipment are all licensed for commercial operations and regularly under go licensing inspections and surveys to ensure standards are met. Our staff are all licensed and experienced in operating these boats and are trained to ensure you get the maximum enjoyment out of your day. The experiences are run from Southampton, Hampshire.
Presentation
Open dated vouchers are sent in a complimentary gift tin, which includes a gift voucher in a presentation card, a picture of the yacht, an experience information card and DVD. A gift tin can also be requested at the checkout for a date specific booking.
If you make a booking for a specific date you will be sent a booking confirmation, joining instructions and crew details forms for all the participants. This will be sent by post if the order is made more than 7 days before the date of the trip, if it is less than 7 days to the start of the trip all correspondence will be sent by e-mail.
Delivery methods and options
Standard Delivery: This is free on all orders. Please allow up to 5 working days for delivery. We dispatch via Royal Mail 1st Class Post and we would normally expect your order to arrive the next day, however this is not guaranteed.
Express Delivery: This option guarantees next day delivery on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday. Orders made before 1pm on a Friday will be guaranteed for delivery on Monday. Orders made on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday will be guaranteed for delivery on a Tuesday. Delivery is made via Royal Mail Special Delivery. The charge for special delivery is £6 on any order. Please note: This delivery service will require a signature on arrival.
Dispatch
If you order before 1pm Monday to Friday your order will be dispatched the same day. If you order after 1pm on a Monday to Thursday, your order will be dispatched the following day. If you order after 1pm on a Friday or on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday your order will dispatched the next working day (normally the Monday, unless it is a bank holiday).
Availability
Online availability is displayed directly from our reservations system and we endeavor to ensure it is up to date and accurate at all times. If you would like to book a date that is not displayed online please contact us on 02380 988 966 and we will confirm if there is any availability. In the unlikely circumstances that the date you have requested is unavailable we will contact you by e-mail as soon as possible, but no later than 4 working hours after your order was placed (working hours are considered to be 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday), and let you know that we are unable to confirm your reservation. At this stage you may choose to cancel your order or to change your reservation to an alternative date. Blue Box Sailing recommend you do not make any hotel or travel reservations until you receive a booking confirmation for your experience.
Order processing
Payment for all orders can be made using a credit or debit card or by cheque or postal order. We are able to accept the following card types: Visa (Credit and Debit), MasterCard, Electron, Maestro or Solo. For open dated vouchers you may also choose to pay via Google Checkout.
When payment is made by credit or debit card or by Google Checkout, if you order before 1pm, Monday to Friday, your order will be processed and goods despatched the same working day. If you order after 1pm, or on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday, goods will be despatched the following working day. If there is a problem with despatching your order, we will notify you by phone, or failing that by email as soon as possible. .
When payment is made by cheque or postal order, your order will be despatched no later than 5 working days after the receipt of your cheque or postal order. If your payment does not clear, you will be notified by e-mail and the order will be cancelled. If you wish to send alternative payment, you will need to create a new order.
Changing your mind
If you are not happy with gift voucher or booking you are entitled to a full refund if you contact us within 14 days of purchase.
If you have made a reservation for a specific date, which is less than 14 days away then a full refund will only be available up to 5 days prior to the start of the trip. Requests for refunds must be made in writing via e-mail to info@blueboxsailing.com or by post to Blue Box Sailing Ltd, Unit 11, Hamble Yacht Services, Port Hamble, Hamble, SO31 4NN. Refunds are always made to the person who purchased the experience, and if originally purchased by credit or debit card, the refund will be credited to the same card.
If you have reserved a specific date, this can be changed up to 30 days prior to departure and subject to availability. However please note that booking dates can only be changed once. If the experience is changed to an experience which costs more than the date originally booked, the difference in price is payable at the time of the date change, If the experience is changed to a date which costs less than the date originally booked the difference will not be refunded. The date of a booking cannot be changed less than 30 days prior to departure, however the participant can be changed.
Included in the price
The price of all our experiences include guidance and instruction from qualified Blue Box Sailing staff, all boat running costs, including marina fees and fuel, boat insurance to cover major damage to the boat and its equipment, including third party liability and use of wet weather clothing and all safety equipment. Soft drinks and lunch are provided on all experiences (except the Family Taster Sail, on which lunch is not included).
Weather
Please note: Sailing is a weather dependant sport and confirmation the trip is running is only made by 6pm the day before each trip on advice from the Met Office Weather forecast. We do not recomend you book a hotel or travel until you have received this confirmation.
Blue Box Sailing endeavour to run all trips on their scheduled date, however we reserve the right to cancel a trip in the event that Skipper deems the weather conditions to be potentially dangerous to participants, the yacht or her crew. As a guide a trip may be cancelled in the event of forecast adverse weather conditions, which include, but are not limited to winds exceeding 30 knots, visibility of 5 miles or less and thunderstorms.
When possible the decision to run a trip will be made the evening before the trip and if possible a member of staff will contact you in advance. In the event that your trip is cancelled due to weather you will be able to select an available future date, but no refunds will be given. You will be sent a list of alternative dates at the time of cancellation and it is your obligation to contact Blue Box Sailing within one month of the cancellation to schedule the new date. It is the Skippers decision to run, continue or cease a voyage. Their decision is final.
Blue Box Sailing Ltd will endeavour to minimise the effects of matters outside of its control on an experience, which include, storms, strong winds, lack of wind, fog, mechanical failure and any other events not capable of avoidance by the company. In the event of any such Force Majeure Blue Box Sailing Ltd shall not be liable to pay any refund or compensation to you, but where appropriate will offer you the option of an another voyage.
Participants
All participants must be over 12 years of age, reduced to 11 years for the Family Sailing Experience only. Any participants aged 11-17 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Blue Box Sailing are committed to making sailing available to everyone and we do not have any weight, height or maximum age restrictions. However there are a number of steep steps on Blueprint and a short ladder on Taeping, if you may need assistance to move around, we would ask you book with someone who can give you a helping hand. All participants must accept the authority of the Skipper of the vessel and all other employees of Blue Box Sailing Ltd throughout the duration of the voyage. At all times the decision of Blue Box Sailing Ltd’s skippers are final. We reserve the right to refuse an experience to anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, in this case you have no entitlement to a refund. No alcohol may be consumed aboard the vessel whilst it is underway. Where required appropriate safety equipment must be worn, no exceptions will be made. Refusal to wear the required safety equipment may result in the termination of your voyage.
All attendees must abide by the rules and regulations explained in the briefing. If you or any participant booked by you cause damage to any vessel or its equipment, whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or disobeying the instructions of a member of Blue Box Sailing Ltd staff, the costs of repair will be borne by you. If you commit an illegal act, which includes carrying or taking drugs on board the boat, continually disregard the instructions of your Skipper or interfere with the well being of the crew, through disruptive or difficult behaviour, the skipper reserves the right to terminate your voyage and Blue Box Sailing Ltd shall have no responsibility to or for you. In such an event you will have no right to any refund.
Privacy
Blue Box Sailing Ltd is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in our privacy statement - see privacy page. We conform to the requirements of the Data Protection Act, 1998.
Spam (unwanted emails)
During the product ordering process you will have the option to opt into our email mailing list. If you choose to join the mailing list, we will only send you emails with special offers and relevant marketing information regarding our own products. Your email address will not be given to any third parties, or be abused by us sending you hundreds of unwanted emails.

Problems with order
If you experience any problems using our online shop, please either email us info@blueboxsailing.com or call the us on 02380 988 966. After you have confirmed and paid for your order, you will be sent a confirmation email from us with a copy of your order and delivery address.
Are my credit card details and personal information secure?
This website takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line. When our order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'. While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our online shop links direct into PayPoint card processing facilities using encryption technology via our shopping cart facilty run by FoxyCart, to enable secure transfer of your personal data over the Internet.
We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998). Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the browsing session. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. The cookie simply terminates after a period of time. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user would not have to re-enter any shopping cart information, thereby saving time. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site although shopping cart functionality will be unavailable.
